History:

In 2001, the Leadership Committee was formed to mentor leaders of the AAFP through leadership training and to solicit more volunteer leaders from the AAFP membership. In early 2005, the Executive Board combined the Leadership Committee with the Nominations Committee to form the Leadership Development Committee with the charge of:

  1. Identifying Leaders
  2. Recruiting Leaders
  3. Developing/training Leaders
In 2003, the Bylaws and nominations procedures were updated to offer more democratic procedures to elect Officers and Board Directors.
In 2006, the nominations procedures were refined to screen qualifications of nominees so that a slate of qualified, responsive candidates could be presented.
