CatVets.com January 2010

Here is what we are Meowing about this Month

We begin the new year focusing on wellness with the publication of "Feline Life Stage Guidelines", Spring Conference in San Diego March 13-15 - "Creating Relationships that Last", and Sunday night rounds on VIN - "Feline Neonatal Care". Use these educational resources to offer your clients feline health care that helps prevent illness, maximizes quality of life, and enhances relationships.

For me 2010 has begun on a sad note - my husband and I have lost a very special kitty. Our relationship with "Quicki" taught me so much about the value of our feline companions and the quiet intensity of the love many of our clients feel for their own cats - especially men who may, like my husband, hide their feelings in all but the safest settings.

I am a Feline Practitioner because our clients' cats are special and I want to support those relationships to the very best of my ability. Become a member or renew your membership and let your clients know that you are a veterinary professional who is "passionate about the care of cats!"

AAFP / AAHA Feline Life Stage Guidelines

The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) are pleased to announce the publication of the AAFP/AAHA Feline Life Stage Guidelines in the January issue of the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery and the Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association.

The guidelines offer practical strategies that veterinary practices can integrate into their daily routines to help:

  • offer healthcare recommendations specific for the lifestage of the feline patient.

  • educate clients about behavior and environmental issues that promote a healthy life style.
